Setting Boundaries
“Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.”
— Brené Brown
Setting Boundaries
Boundaries are healthy limits that protect your emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing. They help define what is acceptable in your relationships and interactions, and support a sense of safety, respect, and balance in both your personal and professional life.
When boundaries are clear, they can reduce stress and overwhelm, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and support healthier self-esteem. They also help reduce resentment and conflict by creating clearer expectations and allowing space for your needs and values to be acknowledged. However, many people find boundaries difficult due to fear of rejection, guilt, people-pleasing patterns, difficulty saying no, or uncertainty about what their needs are.
At Evergreen Counselling Collective, we offer a supportive space to help you better understand your needs, values, and limits. Our therapists can work with you to develop assertive communication skills, build confidence in setting and maintaining boundaries, and navigate the discomfort or resistance that can sometimes arise. Over time, this process can support more balanced relationships and a stronger sense of self-trust and wellbeing.
