Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
“The goal is not to feel better, but to feel better at feeling.”
— Steven C. Hayes
ACT
Life is a journey filled with moments of joy, sorrow, and everything in between. At times, we can feel caught in cycles of self-doubt, difficult thoughts, or overwhelming emotions that make it hard to move forward in the direction we want.
At Evergreen Counselling Collective, we offer Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based approach that helps you build psychological flexibility—learning how to relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings while staying connected to what matters most. Rather than focusing on eliminating discomfort, ACT supports you in making space for it, so you can respond more intentionally and move toward a meaningful life.
In therapy, you’ll work collaboratively with a clinician to explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, clarify your values, and take practical, committed steps toward change. Through mindfulness exercises, experiential work, and values-based reflection, ACT can support greater resilience and a stronger sense of direction, even in the presence of difficult internal experiences.
ACT can be helpful for a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, chronic pain, substance use, eating concerns, and relationship difficulties. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of your next steps, ACT offers tools to help you live more fully and in alignment with what matters to you.
