Family Therapy

COUNSELLING FOR FAMILIES IN DURHAM REGION AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Stronger relationships start with open conversations.

At Evergreen Counselling Collective, family therapy focuses on strengthening communication, understanding, and connection within the family system. Family relationships can be deeply supportive, but they can also become strained during times of stress, transition, conflict, or emotional hardship. Family counselling provides a space where each person can feel heard while working together toward healthier and more supportive relationships. Family therapy can support many different family structures, including couples, blended families, single-parent households, parents and children, siblings, and extended family dynamics. Rather than focusing on one individual as “the problem,” family therapy looks at the patterns, interactions, and relationships within the family as a whole. By exploring these dynamics together, families can begin to better understand one another and work toward more effective ways of communicating and coping. Whether your family is navigating conflict, grief, behavioural concerns, parenting challenges, separation, stress, emotional disconnection, or major life transitions, involving the family in the healing process can often create more meaningful and lasting change for everyone involved. Our therapists strive to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where family members can openly express themselves and feel supported. Therapy may involve meeting with family members individually at times, as well as together as a group, depending on the needs and goals of the family. Family relationships can be complex, but healing and reconnection are possible with the right support.
