Trauma & PTSD
“Trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you.”
— Gabor Maté
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma can occur after a distressing or overwhelming event, or a series of experiences that exceed one’s ability to emotionally process or cope. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may develop following exposure to a traumatic event involving actual or threatened harm, and can affect both emotional and physical wellbeing. Symptoms may include intrusive memories or flashbacks, heightened anxiety, emotional numbness or overwhelm, difficulty trusting others, and persistent feelings of anger, fear, despair, or hopelessness.
At Evergreen Counselling Collective, we offer compassionate, trauma-informed therapy to support individuals in understanding and healing from traumatic experiences. Our therapists work collaboratively with you to explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns connected to your trauma response, while also building practical skills to manage triggers, regulate emotions, and restore a sense of safety and stability. Healing from trauma is a gradual process, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
