Internal Family Systems
“When we approach ourselves with curiosity instead of judgment, healing becomes possible.”
IFS
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a compassionate, evidence-informed approach that understands the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own emotions, roles, and intentions. Rather than trying to eliminate parts of ourselves, IFS focuses on understanding and working with them, supporting greater internal harmony and self-understanding.
At Evergreen Counselling Collective, IFS helps you identify and connect with these inner parts while strengthening access to your core Self—your grounded, compassionate centre. From this place of Self-leadership, we work together to listen to protective and wounded parts, understand their roles, and support healing and integration within your internal system.
IFS can be helpful for trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, relationship difficulties, and patterns of self-criticism. It is a gentle, non-judgmental approach that supports emotional regulation, resilience, and deeper self-compassion by fostering curiosity toward your inner world rather than judgment.
Through this process, IFS can support meaningful healing, greater balance within yourself, and a deeper sense of connection to who you are beyond your struggles.
